Credit union: In the state of Georgia, there are 99 headquartered credit unions with 450 operational branch offices for their members. Over two million Georgia residents are members of credit unions. The largest credit union in the state is Delta Community Credit Union, which has over 406,000 members. It has been in business since 1940. Membership is based on where you live or work. It has open membership to residents of Georgia’s most populated counties and employees of some of its largest companies.
Several other credit unions offer membership to those in specific professions like education and law enforcement. Several large companies in the state have their own cooperatives, such as Coca-Cola. There are many location-based cooperatives, which is excellent as Georgia still has some very rural counties. Those working in those communities are emulating what the first credit unions did when they brought banking services to underserved communities.

Car insurance: Car insurance in Georgia is not typically expensive unless you live in Atlanta or a suburb of that city. Rates increase there because the spike in population tends to lead to a rise in accidents and property crime.
Georgia does not ask residents to carry extensive coverage in their policies. However, residents do need to add coverage to their policies to cover uninsured drivers. Other minimums in the state are $25,000 for property liability and $25,000 per person for bodily injury.
It does not appear that Georgia credit unions underwrite their own car insurance policies. However, several have partnered with the company TruStage to offer discounts on their products to credit union members. Even if you are happy with your coverage, always check for comparison purposes. There is a chance TruStage could have a comparable policy for you at a cheaper rate than you currently pay. Take advantage of this perk of your credit union membership!
